Snæfellsjökull Glacier Snow-cat Tour

3 hours

Easy

A 3 hour snow-cat sightseeing adventure to explore one of Iceland's most beautiful glaciers, Snæfellsjökull. We will drive to the root of the glacier where a snow-cat will be waiting to take you higher up on the glacier.

Join us on a fantastic snow-cat sightseeing tour of Snæfellsjökull.

We start the tour from Arnarstapi, located very close to Snæfellsjökull. To reach the foot of the glacier, we drive on a bumpy mountain pass along the glacier itself that offers fantastic views of the glacier ad the surrounding area.
If you have a 4x4 car, you can also choose to follow us with your own vehicle. In that case, we will still meet you in Arnarstapi, but you can follow our bus in your car.

Once at the foot of the glacier, we climb aboard our snowcat to start our slow ascent to the top of Snæfellsjökull.

Snæfellsjökull rises 1446 meters above sea level and it is mostly famous because it is here that Jules Verne set a passage leading to the center of the Earth in his well-known Journey to the Center of the Earth. The mountain is believed to have some special energy and it is considered one of the Earth's seven sources of spiritual energy. Whether you believe this or not, our sightseeing snow-cat tour will give you a chance to see this spectacular glacier from up close, for an unforgettable experience.

Please keep in mind this is not a glacier hike but mostly a sightseeing tour during which you will be on a bus and on a snow-cat.

The views from the glacier and how high up we will go will depend on the weather and glacier conditions.

Please wear warm waterproof clothes as we will be spending some time on a glacier so it can get quite cold even in the summer.

The tour ends back in Arnarstapi.
